Pelvic Floor Considerations for 3rd Trimester
Home streeeeeeetch.
We begin training for birth prep and postpartum recovery instead of training for competition.
We bring awareness to using our breath with movement.
We begin limiting volume for overhead push and pull movements, adjusting and minimizing range of motion for exercises and adjusting to our new posture caused by our belly.
This stage is very INDIVIDUAL DEPENDENT
PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY CONSIDERATIONS

Teach partner counter pressure and massage techniques for labour.
Review hip opening and pelvic floor relaxation stretches.
Discuss 4th trimester lifestyle modifications and positions/movements to minimize strain on healing core and pelvic floor.
